Statement of Significance
Intact example of early Kilmore farmstead on small allotment. Rutledge subdivided his survey into small tenant freehold farms in the early 1840's. This is one such allotment with little disturbance since cultivation ceased and land consolidated for grazing.

ABERDEEN'S CREEK PADDOCK - History
Owner of land has consulted Kilmore Historical Society and Vin O' Donoghue's thesis (MA?) on Rutledge Survey. According to O'Donoghue, first owner was Martin McGillvery who sold to Hector Rose 4/8/1859 who subdivided Lot 17 into 17A and 17B. Rose sold 17A to Norman Campbell 19/12/1859. Campbell sold again 22/4/1882. Rose sold 17B to Donald McLeod also 19/12/1859 and land was retained by McLeod until 8/1/1876.ABERDEEN'S CREEK PADDOCK - Interpretation of Site
Complex is probably remnant of rural/farming activity from early 1840's until cropping became unviable probably during last quater of the 19th century. It is possible that buildings dating to first/earlier occupation were re-used as outbuildings or detached kitchen and the fireplace footing to the south of the stone building is possiblyearlier than the quite substantial stone dwelling.
