How is it significant?
The Pines (former) at 11 Willett Avenue, Oak Park is of local historicsignificance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it significant?
Of historical significance as one of only two examples of latenineteenth century farmhouses in the Oak Park area. It demonstrates anearly phase of farming settlement and development of Oak Park, on partof land that was originally settled and farmed by John Pascoe Fawkner.(AHC Criterion A.4)

Way back in the early 1950s the owner of 'The Pines' rented out part of his house. In the course of perhaps a year or two there were several other families that shared the space with us. All were migrants from Europe. I can remember there being a lot of land around the house with a large gate at the bottom of the drive. Inside was a long hallway with about four big rooms used as bedrooms/sitting rooms....we bathed in the laundry. I would love to see it again, Petra
