City of Brunswick Electricity Supply Substation (former) - Physical Description 1
The City of Brunswick Electricity Supply transformer station (former) at Howarth Street, Brunswick is a simple brick building with some decorative brick detailing on side walls and top of front of building. The square bellcast tower with painted louvres features a galvanised iron hipped roof. The building is hard up against a large factory ( Fletcher Jones), and appears to be an active CitiPower high voltage substation.
City of Brunswick Electricity Supply Substation (former) - Physical Conditions
Frith Street is in fair condition, with a large crack on the north facade currently braced, and discolouration beneath the roof spouting that does not allow water to clear the brick facade, with some evidence of falling damp on the north-east corner of the facade. The adjoining building to the south has failed guttering that is releasing water onto the substation roof, likely adding to water problems. There is weathering evident on the timber of the ventilation box.
City of Brunswick Electricity Supply Substation (former) - Integrity
Frith Street (S10) has an unsympathetic replacement door and steel bracing affixed. It retains high integrity overall.
