Statement of Significance
This large Gothic Revival building was constructed in 1892 as offices for the Metropolitan Gas Co to a design by the architects, Reed Smart and Tappin. Originally a red brick building with rendered dressings, it has been totally rendered during this century.
Designed specifically to complement the nearby St Paul's Cathedral, it was judged a success in that respect in its day and remains so today.
