Statement of Significance
A terrace of 16 houses constructed in 1877-78 by the builder Charles Butler of Parkville. Canterbury Terrace provides a unique example in Melbourne of terraced housing occupying the entire length of a block. With its projecting bays, deeply recessed arcading, and palladian overtones the finely modelled terrace dominates one of East Melbourne's most important residential precincts.
