COLLINS LAKE SAWMILL, EDENHOPE - History
One of the first sawmills in the Edenhope district, started by James Lampard, possibly as early as 1860. The mill had further owners before it was bought by Mr Pahl and removed to his property at Langkoop during the 1940s.COLLINS LAKE SAWMILL, EDENHOPE - Interpretation of Site
Mill was purchased by Pahl, then Frank Golding. Another Pahl brought it in the 1940's and moved it to his property at Langkoop.
COLLINS LAKE SAWMILL, EDENHOPE - Archaeological Significance
Site is archaeologically significant as one of the earliest examples of a sawmill in the Edenhope district likely to contain intact deposits relating to the timber industry.
Heritage Inventory Description
COLLINS LAKE SAWMILL, EDENHOPE - Heritage Inventory Description
A large log with three large nails and bolts in it lies east of a square depression which was probably a sawpit. South west is another rectangular depression. Further south are six wooden stumps in a rectangular formation. A flat area to the NW of the mill was probably used as the log yard.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Regional - very early sawmill in Edenhope district.
