Statement of Significance
Hills View, built in 1890 for Barnet Glass, is architecturally and historically significant at a local level.
Architecturally, Hills View is notable as an unusually elaborate single storey villa featuring a projecting front bay, and high balustraded parapet, with a verandah that returns down the side to take advantage of the views.
Historically, Hills View is significant as the home of Barnet Glass, Australia's first Indian rubber manufacturer, and subsequently Thomas Adams, influential quarry owner and Alphington pioneer.
