Statement of Significance
The Patch is the name of the small, village settlement within this steep-sided valley. The major land uses consist of intensive horticulture, including gooseberries, strawberries and cut flowers, and rural residential developments. Several substantial blocks of forest have been retained in the valley and on the ridge lines.
The Patch landscape is of high regional significance within the Dandenong Ranges due to its outstanding visual qualities and its well established agricultural use, and its contribution to the diversity of landscape types in the Dandenongs.
LOCATION AND BOUNDARIES:
The Patch is located on the south-eastern side of the Dandenong Ranges. The boundaries of this area largely follow the major ridge lines around The Patch valley.
Where possible, the boundary follows road and creek lines:
South-west boundary - Regnan Grantulla and Ridge Roads
Eastern boundary - Menzies Creek
North-eastern boundary - Mernda and David Hill Roads.
