Statement of Significance
The Yellingbo creeks area is considered to be of national zoological significance due to the presence of the Helmeted Honey-eater and of regional significance due to the large number of other bird and animal species that occur here. The remnants of creek side vegetation, occurring within a large area of cleared land, are considered botanically important.
The value of the Yellingbo Reserve is increased by the fact that it is one of the most accessible places for Melbourne people where the Greater Glider, Yellow-Bellied Glider and possums can be seen.
The remnants of native vegetation found along the network of creeks forming the Woori Yallock Creek system contribute to the value and viability of this area as wildlife habitat.
LOCATION AND BOUNDARIES:
This area is located along the Woori Yallock creek system, 64 kilometres east of Melbourne. Part of this area abuts the Macclesfield Creek Classified area.
