Statement of Significance
This landscape, aptly called the Black Range because of its appearance from a distance, contains extensive areas of Narrow-leaved Peppermint (E. radiata), Swamp Gum (E. ovata), Candlebark (E. rubida) and Snow Gum (E. pauciflora) forest. Broad-leaved Peppermint (E. dives) occurs on the drier northern slopes and small areas of Alpine Ash Forest occur near the summit.
Its topography and elevation are such that the Range contains a large range of ecosystems.
LOCATION:
First range east of Whitfield, Victoria.
Recorded 17/11/1975
