Contribution to the landscape of historic garden
Outstanding size
A wooden church was built in 1853 and in June 1869 it was decided to improve the church surrounds. The church committee obtained a donation of trees from Baron von Mueller of the Royal Botanic Gardens. The present brick building was constructed in 1875
The Ficus macrophylla is a very large spreading tree featuring bright green glossy leaves, large buttresses extending down to wide spreading flanged roots. Planted extensively in the mid to late 1800's, it is one of the more dominant trees within many Australian cities parks and avenues, .
