Statement of Significance
Tree which occurs in a unique location or context and so provides a contribution to the historic garden or park;
Outstanding example of species
A large example of the "Big Tree" displaying outstanding form. It is the only specimen in the Gardens. It was planted by Sir George Bowen, Governor of Victoria, on 2 August 1873.
