Why is it significant?
A fine example of this uncommon Araucaria. A native of New Caledonia and the New Hebrides, the tree, which may grow to 60-70 metres, is distinguished by its narrow and compact crown. The only other known occurrences of this tree in Victoria is in St Vincent Gardens, Albert Park and 5 trees in the Royal Botanic Gardens. This tree, although small, is of excellent form.
Tree is located north-east of Director's Residence.
