Outstanding example of species
A fine mature example of a species now depleted in numbers in Victoria. This species has attracted attention due to its large fleshy edible fruits and CSIRO has researched propagation and orchard cultivation. S. acuminatum is partially parasitic and relies on host plants for only water and soil nutrients. It seems to rely on nitrogen fixing trees such as Acacia and Casuarina though it's known to parasitise many other legumes, shrubs, herbs and grasses. .
Located between Fifth and Sixth Streetson west side.
