Contribution to landscape
Outstanding size
This large Ficus macrophylla (Moreton Bay Fig) was planted in the grounds of the original Pioneer Nursery. The Nursery was established in 1888 and it is thought that the tree was planted around this time. Itslarge size gives the treeprominence in the landscape and the dense crown and dark green foliage is a feature. The tree also exhibits a very wide low spreading crown. This species is uncommon in the Mildura region and the only other known tree is in a private garden opposite Rio Vista. The tree has a well structured and symmetrical crown and minor bark wounds on the trunk.
17/09/2013:The tree is in good condition and a path and a seat has been constructed at its base.
