Outstanding example of the species
The National Bank on the site was built in 1876 within the commercial area of Romey and is classified by the National Trust. The Magnolia grandiflora is reputed to have been planted in the early development of the Bank garden adjacent to the main building on its southern side.
This tree is significant as it is a mature and excellent example of this species. The tree provides a large, overhanging canopy which creates a strong relationship to the classified building, the garden in which it is planted and the streetscape,
