UNITY DAM TAILINGS AND CYANIDE WORKS - History
There were two main periods for cyaniding occurred in the first half of the twentieth century c.1897 to 1914 and c.1937 to 1950s.UNITY DAM TAILINGS AND CYANIDE WORKS - Interpretation of Site
Tailings dump which once contained impressions of cyanide vats. Thought was given to amalgamating three adjoining site – H7624 – 0113, 0114, and 0115 as a single landscape. However the distinctive differences between H7624-0114 (Eucy distillery) and H7624-0115 (Eucy factory) means they should be assessed in their own right. An option for the future is a new Site Card established for the dam or reservoir (the focal point for the Eucy sites) and the two sites included in its extent. The third site H7625-0113 (tailings and cyanide works) possesses poor archaeological value due to the damage caused by quarrying and trail bikes.
