GREAT EXTENDED HUSTLER'S TRIBUTE MINE - History
The Great Extended Hustler’s Tribute Company (generally known as Hustler’s Pups Company), formed in 1871 to work the southern portion of the reef, located stone at 320 feet giving 10 oz. per ton, and from a 750-ft length of reef paid £194,600 in dividends. Deeper sinking to 1,970 feet was without results, and the company wound up in 1895. The parent company’s main shaft was eventually sunk to 3,470 feet, and their No 2 shaft to 570 feet. Remains of a mullock paddock and brick engine bed.
Heritage Inventory Significance: None
SiteCard data copied on 04/07/2024: On crown of hill is a largely quarried mullock heap. Also visible is a largely buried brick mounting bed. So obscured is the bed that it is difficult to establish if it is in-situ or filling for shaft.
