OLD MITIAMO COMMERCIAL PRECINCT - History
The township was surveyed in 1874 into 227 lots but only 20 were taken up. The township boasted four hotels, blacksmith, baker, shoemaker, school and police reserve. In 1883, the township was 'moved' to Mitiamo, 3.5 km west, due to the new railway.OLD MITIAMO COMMERCIAL PRECINCT - Interpretation of Site

OLD MITIAMO COMMERCIAL PRECINCT - Archaeological Significance
The site provides a unique opportunity to study artefacts from 1874-1883. One artefact scatter was located corresponding to the location of a hotel. Poor visibility limited the assessment of the site boundary size.
