WILLIAM EAGLE HOUSE - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The house was built in 1857 by William Eagle, one of the early orchardists in Harcourt. It was demolished circa 1930 to build "Pine Lodge" which is east, further along the driveway.
WILLIAM EAGLE HOUSE - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: Only the foundations remain of one of Harcourt's first houses. The house was demolished circa 1930, but the site has probably remained undisturbed since.
Heritage Inventory Description
WILLIAM EAGLE HOUSE - Heritage Inventory Description
Ruin site at the end of the "Pine Lodge" driveway. Granite foundations and some scattered brick are obscured by vegetation. Several old trees remain, including a Bunya Pine and a cedar. There are granite footings and scattered brick adjacent to and under the shed on the opposite (south) side of the driveway. There is also a large granite and brick construction which may be a kiln or oven.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Moderate archaeological significance (7). High local historical significance due to the association with William Eagle, one of the regions pioneer orchardists.
