This Golden Elm (Ulmus glabra 'Lutescens') is an outstanding specimen that dominates the front of St Patrick's Cathedral, a place of national importance. The tree has high aesthetic qualities with long flowing branches down to the ground and a full canopy, and makes a significant contribution to the landscape.
St Patricks Cathedral is the mother church of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and the first Mass held on the site was in 1858.
