These four Pinus coulteri are part of the major planting in the Park that dates from 1875. The outstanding characteristic of this species is the large, spiny cones which are 20-40cm long, and can weigh 2-5kg when fresh.Big Cone Pine is a native of the coastal mountains of southern California and northern Baja California (Mexico).
