Statement of Significance
Harriet Holmes' Grave, rear of 1566 Blangum Inn Road, Kanya, has significance as a memorial to the memory of Harriet Holmes, wife of Robert Holmes, early land selector and builder of the original Bolangum Inn in c.1865. This Inn was the long-serving hotel on the route between the townships of Navarre and Marnoo and was demolished in c.1990.
The Harriet Holmes' Grave, rear of 1566 Blangum Inn Road, is historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with and commemorates the life of Harriet Holmes, wife of Robert Holmes, early land selector and builder of the Bolangum Inn in c.1865. The grave is valued by the local community as the resting place of one of Kanya's early pioneers.

Harriet Holmes' Grave, rear of 1566 Blangum Inn Road, Kanya, has a rural bushland setting. The headstone consists of six courses of locally made bricks on a concrete base, with the upper three courses tapered towards the top. The upper portion of the headstone has a plaque that reads: "In Memory of Harriet. Died 17th Feb 1870. 49 Yrs. Wife of Robert Holmes, Builder of Bolangum Inn."
