Local knowledge indicates the site may be associated with the 1854 homestead site (H7623-0314).BURRUMBEET CREEK DUMP SITE - Interpretation of Site
The site may be associated with the 1854 homestead located on the Powells Homestead property (7623-0314). Given that it is located only 500m from the Windermere School and the former Windermere Post Office (7623-0315), the site may be associated with the township.
BURRUMBEET CREEK DUMP SITE - Archaeological Significance
No surface features or deposits. Subsurface artefacts located during a test excavation under a CHMP (associated with VAHR 7623-0153).Site has been ploughed in the past and is likely to be highly disturbed. Aboriginal cultural heritage material also located on the site.
BURRUMBEET CREEK DUMP SITE - Historical Significance
Site may be associated with the 1854 homestead located on the Powell Homestead property. SIte may also be associated with the township of Windermere, given its location (500m from the school and former post office site).
