FORMER DIGGER'S REST-COIMADAI ROAD FARM COMPLEX - History
The site is located on a portion of land originally acquired from the Crown in 1856 by John Mooney.FORMER DIGGER'S REST-COIMADAI ROAD FARM COMPLEX - Interpretation of Site
Farm complex possibly dating to the early to mid 20th century. Site contains evidence of rural life, domesticity and farming practices. There is some evidence (brick step, timber posts) to suggest that a larger house may have been located on the site south/ near the location of the hut ruin.

The site is of medium - high archaeological significance and maintains a moderate level of intactness and high integrity. There is the potential for insitu subsurface deposits to remain relating to structures and the use of the site. The site has been subjet to little to no ground disturbance.

FORMER DIGGER'S REST-COIMADAI ROAD FARM COMPLEX - Heritage Inventory Description
Updated description: Site comprises a farm complex including a collapsed/ destroyed hut; shed; shearing shed; stockyards; sheep dip; hedge row/ windrow of olive trees; fruit trees including figs and peppercorn treets; insitu bluestone paving - a structural foundation; artefact scatters around the main hut site and covered well at the east of the site, south of the sheep dip; and, evidence of piled rock walls.

Previous description: Wooden hut with two fireplaces, one with pot belly the other open. Has been partially re-boarded; corrugated iron roof; floorboards in poor condition. Artefact scatter (ceramics - Asiatic pheasant, willow; glass - beer, wine, Barrett Bros) surrounding hut extending towardriver red gum. Extant wooden hut with lath and plaster upper walls, corrugated iron lower walls, separated by a wooden dado. Brick sheep wash, drystone wall, bluestone paved area and brick paving. Potential former verandah area or extension of hut, rocks lining former garden boundary. Artefact scatter.
