House, 16 Silvermines Road, ST ARNAUD - Physical Description 1
The house at 16 Silvermines Road is set on a large residential allotment with substantial side setbacks and a front setback of approximately 5 metres. The yard is characterised by grassed areas with substantial early trees. An early fence appears to have been removed, with only the scrolled metal gate and flanking timber posts remaining.
The single storey, asymmetrical, horizontal weatherboard, Late Victorian styled house is characterised by a hipped roof form, together with a minor hip and return ogee form verandah that project towards the street frontage. These roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron, overpainted with peeling red paint. Two early and substantial unpainted red brick chimneys with cream brick bands and dentillated corbelled tops adorn the roofline. Narrow overhangs and worked timber brackets are features of the eaves. The front windows appear to be timber framed and early.
