Shop (former 'Cambrian Hall'), 107 Main Street, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The building at 107 Main Street, Stawell, contributes to the architectural and visual amenity of the predominantly Victorian and interwar streetscape.
The symmetrical, single storey, face and rendered brick, Victorian styled commercial building is characterised by an early balustraded parapet having a solid central segmentally arched title panel. The parapet also has flanking piers with incised panels, and is supported by early projecting rectangular blocks on decorative consoles, and a moulded stringcourse. A large title panel (now overpainted in deep red like the upper incised panels) is also early.
An introduced projecting cantilevering canopy has been introduced, as has the ground floor shopfront and wall surrounds.
The rear gable roof forms clad in galvanised corrugated iron are also early, although the parapeted rectangular brick rear wing has been introduced.Heritage Study and Grading
