Statement of Significance
What is significant?
How is it significant?
Why is it significant?
The building at 158-160 Main Street, Stawell, is historically and architecturally significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level. Although the shopfront has been greatly altered, the rear gable roof form, parapeted gable end punctuated by a double brick chimney, brick wall construction (with introduced overpainting), together with the gabled rear building having galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, and the horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding (but not the side flat roofed addition) are those particular elements that contribute to the historical and architectural amenity of the area.
