Statement of Significance
The house at 17 Patrick Street, Stawell, has significance as a moderately intact example of a rudimentary Victorian style. Possibly built in the second half of the 19th century, the house is in fair condition, when evidence of raised roof cladding to the verandah, and loose downpipes.
The house at 17 Patrick Street is historically and architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It is possibly associated with residential developments in Stawell in the second half of the 19th century, and it demonstrates original design qualities of a rudimentary Victorian style.These qualities include the hipped roof form, together with the hipped concave verandah that projects towards the street frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the symmetrical composition, single storey height, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, narrow eaves, central panelled timber front door with sidelights and highlights, and the flanking timber framed double hung windows.
Overall, the house at 17 Patrick Street is of LOCAL significance.

House, 17 Patrick Street, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The house at 17 Patrick Street, Stawell, has front garden setting of perimeter flower beds and shrubbery. There is a central concrete pedestrian path and a modest front setback.
The symmetrical, single storey, horizontal timber weatherboard, rudimentary Victorian styled house is characterised by a hipped roof form, together with a hipped concave verandah that projects towards the street frontage. These roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron. Narrow overhangs are features of the eaves.
An early feature of the design is the front verandah. It is supported by stop chamfered timber posts and has an elevated timber floor.
Other early features of the design include the central four panelled timber door with sidelights and highlights, together with the flanking timber framed double hung windows.
