The water wheel shown is the 'Stephens' water wheel around 1950 - 1960. It was first erected in 1863 by Johnson Stephens, and then operated by his Father in-law, then a William Radcliffe, followed by the Stephens brothers and finally by Richard Burt Stephens, Its last crushing was around 1918 where upon it fell into disuse and eventually collapsed.
