Statement of Significance
The house at 16 Sloane Street, Stawell, makes a significant architectural and visual contribution to the predominantly late 19th and early 20th century residential area. It is significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level, being associated with residential developments in Stawell in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and it demonstrates some remnant and appropriate design qualities of a transitional Late Victorian/Edwardian style. These qualities include the asymmetrical composition, single storey height, picturesque steeply pitched gabled roof forms, corrugated profile roof cladding, horizontal timber weatherboard and strapped panelled wall cladding, face brick chimneys, skillion porch supported by a face brick pier, and the timber framed double hung windows.
