Statement of Significance
The house at 24 Sloane Street, Stawell, makes a significant architectural and visual contribution to the predominantly late 19th and early 20th century residential area. It is significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level, and it demonstrates some remnant and appropriate design qualities of a conservative interwar Bungalow style. These qualities include the asymmetrical composition, single storey height, gable roof form that traverses the site and the small gable and verandah (formed under the traversing gable) that project towards the street frontage, lapped galvanised corrugated steel roof cladding, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, interwar face brick chimneys with soldier course cappings, timber framed double hung windows (include in the Victorian styled tripartite window on the projecting gable), timber verandah posts and fretwork brackets, timber framed front doorway with sidelight and highlight, and the gable infill (panelling and timber battening).
