Statement of Significance
The double fronted timber cottage and outbuildings at 58 Barkly Street date from early times and are substantially intact. The simple design of the building with its twelve-pane sliding sash windows and decorative timber verandah valance epitomize domestic buildings dating from the 1850's. The house is particularly important in the range of domestic architecture styles in Portland.
