Statement of Significance
Built 1844 by convict labour of Bluestone blocks irregularly hewn, to service the trade going to the gold diggings. It was also the first staging post for the Cobb & Co service between Melbourne and Bendigo. It is believed to have been at one time, the home of Caroline Chislom and also served as a meeting place for the local council.
