TOOLERN CREEK HOMESTEAD REMAINS - History
Subdivision of the land into smaller farms began in 1905. Closer settlement land files detail structure of small farms along Toolern Creek in 1940's. Coin found on site is dated 1916.
TOOLERN CREEK HOMESTEAD REMAINS - Interpretation of Site
Site appears to have been occupied by farmers in the early 20th century, later the residence was abandoned or removed, and the east side of Toolern Creek used for stock grazing. Currently unused, with proposals to create a public park.
TOOLERN CREEK HOMESTEAD REMAINS - Archaeological Significance
Potential for subsurface remains to be present in addition to surface remains. Archaeological deposits will potentially provide information on early European pastoral/ agricultural/ occupation of the area. Moderate archaeological significance.

Historically significant as evidence of early European occupation in the local area, which appears to confirm historical documentation.

Early to mid 20th Century residential remains likely from early pastoral occupation of the region. Site is located overlooking the Toolern Creek. Remains include evidence of garden beds, domestic artefact scatters + dump and alignments of local basalt.
