House - Physical Description 1
This timber, villa has a remarkably intact assemblage of decorative elements, notably the characteristic Ballarat openwork decorative iron pilasters associated with a somewhat more conventional bracket and frieze of the bull nosed verandah. The verandah exhibits a timber gablet above the entrance with a turned down edge to. the barge .boards, a skirt of trellis work around the underside, and a timber pendant drop surmounted by an iron finial. The decorative ridge capping and finials of the roof are intact. This building can be compared with 217 Drummond Street South which is also of timber construction, and 206 McArthur Street of bri, both of which display this distinctive iron work but here it is used on a return verandah on an intact pleasantly proportioned building which combines many featur, characteristic of Ballarat housing, and as such should be preserved.
