    EBENEZER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH - Physical Description 1

    The foundation stone for this church was laid by the Reverend R.J. Walker after work had begun on the building in December 1862. The Church was opened on 21 June 1863. The building was designed by Henry Caselli and built by John Cabott St. Quenton. The Gallery and porch were added in 1883 - 1889 and the 2 ornate iron fences which unifies the hall, church and manse was erected in 1892.
    
    The stained glass windows in north and south walls were presented to the church by Mr. and Mrs. Caselli.

    Caselli used an identical facade design three years later for the Welsh Presbyterian Church in Sebastapol. The original gable front to the Church with stepped elongated round arch headed windows would have presented a stark austere image. The only decorations beside the windows were the circular vent, the large plain brackets supporting the barge board and the dressed quoin work around the windows and buttresses.
    
    The rendered entry porch has echoed the window design but has a slightly more ornate treatment to the parapet.
