WILLIAMSTOWN IMMIGRATION OFFICE AND DEPOT - History
These offices were established in Nelson Place near the corner of Thompson St in the mid to late 1850's to process new arrivals during the gold rush.WILLIAMSTOWN IMMIGRATION OFFICE AND DEPOT - Interpretation of Site
No remains were seen on the site, but could still remain buried under the tarmac at the site. The ground level of this area has been raised up to 1 m above the original levels, due to the construction of the former railways terminus. This was one of the first immigration offices in Hobson's Bay.
