FORMER WEBB'S COTTAGE AND PADDOCK - History
The site is thought to have been the location of a four roomed timber residence and an associated paddock attributed to William Webb. The house appears to have been constructed in the 1850s, as it was rated in 1858. It was extant until at least the mid to late 1880s when it was demolished.FORMER WEBB'S COTTAGE AND PADDOCK - Interpretation of Site
The land has been subject to subdivision and residential development - predominantly in the 1980s. Consequently, it is relatively disturbed. What can be expected are post holes and possibly refuse pits associated with the building, fence and occupation.
FORMER WEBB'S COTTAGE AND PADDOCK - Archaeological Significance
Generally of low significance. The site has been subject to residential development and features relatively new residences, landscaping and in-ground services. There is very limited potential for significant, in situ, in-ground remains associated with Webb's historic tenure.
FORMER WEBB'S COTTAGE AND PADDOCK - Historical Significance
The site has some historical significance as one of the earliest properties of district identity William Webb- an early district merchant and resident.
