Statement of Significance
Croydon Community School (formerly Croydon State School No. 2900) was built in 1889 and enlarged in 1906. It is historically significant to Maroondah for its association with educational developments in the life of the Croydon community and is Maroondah's earliest surviving school. It is socially significant to all of its former pupils who identify with the place. Finally it is architecturally significant as representative of the work of the architect Henry Robert Bastow, Senior Architect of the State Schools Division of the Public Works Department of Victoria.
