STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The Aberdeen Street Baptist Manse, a two storey brick building erected in 1891, is an integral part of an important group of buildings which include the original freestone church of 1876. The manse is typical of residential architecture in Geelong in the 1890's and reflects the influence of the "boom style" in Melbourne at this time. The manse is most notable for the usual, elaborate cast iron verandah and high quality fittings and fixtures. The building is a significant work or architect A.J. Derrick.
