Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A characteristic Edwardian house built in 1909. It is architecturally significant locally as a characteristic Edwardian style house, with interesting craftsmanship to verandah fretwork and turned decoration to valence brackets and posts and as one of a group of 12 relatively intact and most varied in Aberdeen Street. It is significant historically as a representative embodiment of the way of life in Edwardian Newton.
Intactness: The verandah has infill. The roof is inappropriately clad with presumably metal mock Marseilles pattern tiles. The picket fence is recent, with a wrought iron gate. The security screen door is also not appropriate.

Residence "Wendron" - Physical Description 1
A double fronted, hip roofed timber Edwardian house. The left side rear and right front bays are set forward as gables. Upper gables have ogee timbering and are pressed metal clad. They jetty in two stages, both on fretwork brackets the upper is ogee, the lower, concave. The lower brackets continue all around the eaves as a frieze with mould.
There is a bull nosed verandah around the angle, with a fretwork valence in an unusual bud profile and brackets with deeply turned posts. The front gable has a triple sash bay Window, with a hip roof over on brackets. Chimneys are brick with moulded bricks and terracotta pots. The entry door has side and fan lights with leadlight glass.
