SIGNIFICANCE
The former Bournemouth is a timber Italianate house built in 1890. It is architecturally significant locally as characteristic of this domestic style with the cast iron and fine fretwork verandah decoration, the fence and gates are ofparticular interest. It is historically significant as the representative embodiment of confident family life at the height ofthe economic boom.
INTACTNESS: Excellent, The gatepost finials appear to be recent.

'Bornemouth" - Residence - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
A double-fronted timber, Italianate hiproofed house. The left bay projects as a canted bay window with a continuous ridge. The windows have architraves and cill brackets. The bullnosed verandah turns the angle, terminating at the rear right side wing, with a second four-panelled, leadlight door. It has fine fretwork fascia decoration, with pendant forms, cast-iron lace valence and brackets, on Corinthian posts. The entrance is in the angle, with a four-panelled door, side and four-leadlights, There is a timber picket palisade fence and pedestrian gate, with lance-shaped heads in catenary curves and orb-shaped post finials.
