Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE"Roslyn", erected in 1855, is of local historical importance as the residence of John Guthrie, the Sub Collector of Customs of Geelong, who became Inspector of Customs for Victoria in 1864. The residence was later acquired by G. M. Hitchcock, a prominent geelong merchant. The structure is an interesting example of insensitive conversion to flat accommodation. The original character of the 1850's Italianate residence has been all but obliterated and the building is of little architectural significance.
