C Listed - Local Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A large and complex timber Edwardian house built in 1895-6. It is architecturally significant locally as a characteristic Edwardian design with some interesting elements such as the good chimneys and the unusual eaves sun-shade detail. It is historically significant as a representative embodiment of the assured and comfortable lifestyle in the Edwardian Newtown and for its association with the locally important Maltby family.

Residence - Physical Description 1
A large, complex, but generally triple-fronted timber, hip-roofed, Edwardian house with an unusual plan and on a large block. Chimneys are slotted with a decorative frieze mould, with terra-cotta pots. The left bay projects, terminating in a gable. Other gales project at left and right sides. The verandah extends around the angle, under the hip. The roof is extended with a most unusual sun-shade as eaves, on ogee brackets. Upper gables are mock shingles and firstly jetty on deep ogee brackets, the eaves on even larger ogee. Verandah posts are incised and turned, with arched transoms and some lattice. Windows are triple and quadruple easements. Upper sashes are leadlight
