STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A characteristic Italianate house, built in 1892. It is locally architecturally significant as a representative embodiment of the way of life in Newtown in the 1880s.

Residence "Helvetia" - Physical Description 1
An elevated, double-fronted timber Italianate house. The left bay projects as a canted bay window. The frieze has spindle bracket pairs. Chimneys have a frieze and deep cornice moulds. The bullnosed verandah is in the angle, with a cast-iron lace valance and brackets in a maple leaf pattern timber Doric posts. The entrance door is four-panel, with side and fan lights. There is a timber balustrade.
