STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A characteristic symmatical timber Italianate house built in 1915 with an interesting gabled porch. It is architecturally significant as representative of this style (or a late survivor of i)t and historically as embodying life in Newtown ofi ts period as well as artisan accommodation revived by the development of the Ford plant in Geelong. With 43 and the houses at the rear in Virginia Street, it represents in interesting subdivisional pattern.

Residence - Physical Description 1
A double-fronted symmetrical timber Italianate Survival house with a hipped roof in M-profile. The hipped roof verandah is across the front, with a gabled porch facing at the centre. This has barges decorated with discs and drilled plant-form decoration and a turned finial with a transom, all forward of a triangular panel of scrolling foliage in render. The verandah has a cast-iron lace valence and brackets. Chimneys have deep Classical moulds rendered. Eaves have turned ogee spandrel brackets between panels over a frieze mould. The entrance has side and fanlights. With 43 and the houses at their rear in Virginia Street it forms a small subdivision of four houses including surviving bluestone stables behind no 39, for the Virginia Street houses.
