STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE:
A symmetrical Italianate timber house with Georgian influences, most unusual for Newtown (if they are original), built in c1888. It has architectural significance locally as an unusual variant of this domestic style and historically in embodying life in Newtown in the prosperous late 1880s.
INTACTNESS: Fair? Has this been reduced from an Italianate house more similar to no. 50, next door.

Residence - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION:
A three-bay timber symmetrical stripped Italianate house with a hipped roof. Bays one and three have canted bay windows expressed at the roof. The central entrance porch is recessed with side seats, side and fanlights and a four-panelled door. Over the entry is a Georgian pediment supported by consoles, with architraves, rare in Newtown.
Chimneys are rendered, with Classical moulds. There is a privet (Ligustrum) hedge behind a (sympathetic) picket fence, with pedestrian (2) and vehicular gates. There are sympathetic additions at rear.
