Residence - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
The group of buildings comprising 59 Church Street includes a two roomed section with a steeply pitched hip roof, a larger two roomed section in front and a gable roofed section behind. A large outbuilding and associated skillion are also included. It appears that the middle section is the earliest as it still has a shingle roof underneath the corrugated iron. It may have been removed onto that site from elsewhere in Geelong but there is no evidence at this stage to support this. Later additions include alterations to the front window, the addition of the verandah and internal works. There are different profiles of weatherboards on the different sections and various windows alterations make precise dating difficult. The cottage has a picturesque quality, being compose of many forms.
