Residence - "Katoomba" - Physical Description 1
'Katoomba' is a single storey timber building clad in weatherboards. The front elevation is characterized by the corrugated iron roof which is extended to form a verandah over part of the facade. It is supported by short, paired concrete columns which sit on square brick piers. Another important feature of the front elevation is the bay window leadlights. Houses built by the State Savings Bank under the provision of the Housing and Reclamation Act were relatively common in the 1920's. In suburbs of Geelong a total of 193 of these houses were built between 1923 and 1928. This house appears to be one of them as it closely resembles the 'T24' design. The garage has been designed to complement the Bungalow style of the house.
